Cultural Residencies

Camae is now accepting applications for its Cultural Residencies programme, placing artists, writers, and researchers in close study of the company's living sectors.

Over a residency of three to six months, participants are given supervised access to a sector of their discipline's interest, working alongside our narrative and research teams to observe, document, and respond to the environment and its inhabitants. Past residents have produced music drawn from the neon lights of Sector 78, field studies of oral tradition in Sector 272 Nostvary, and a body of visual work that now forms part of the company's permanent collection.

The programme is open to established and emerging practitioners alike. Camae provides access, facilities, and a stipend for the residency period. In return, residents contribute their finished work to the company's cultural archive, extending the record of what these environments are and what they can teach us.

"A sector is a civilisation you can sit with," said the programme's director. "We want the people who spend their lives paying attention, the artists and the scholars, to sit with it too, and tell us what they see."
